Romantic Winter Wedding

Always nice to feel the love on the blogs, and so happy to be featured today for a fabulous collaboration with some wonderful ladies today on 100 Layer Cake.  This started as a project with Tory Williams Photography and gradually became a meeting of the wedding minds with the addition of Nearly Newleywed dresses, Hushed Commotion hair accessories, and Gleena Ceramics!  Thanks to everyone for making this gorgeous shoot happen! Check out the entire post on 100 Layer Cake here.

Modern Hemingway

My good friend Kristen is getting married this November at an old Hemingway property in Key West, Florida which got me thinking about how much I love incorporating tropical flowers and colors into a more chic and formal look.  Here’s a little inspiration board I made in honor of her wedding – I like to call it “Modern Hemingway.” Mint juleps and antique floral dishware, mixed with exotic textiles, cigar boxes filled with succulents, and beautiful blushy accents (including the dress).  Wild yet refined, with lots of unexpected touches. Yes please.

Canine companions

Hi Everyone and a very happy (and frigid here in the northeast) January to you all! I had to share this photo of our sweet Frida looking all regal from a recent wedding shoot with Brita and Tory.  Brita made this mini crown for Frida to wear in the photobooth, and I’m in love.  I absolutely love when pets are included in weddings – they are insta smile makers!

Upstate Chic Wedding

Spring and Summer wedding season is upon us.  I’ve been dreaming up some wedding concepts for this season and have all kinds of creativity flowing.  When Andy and I were wedding planning, we were this close to getting married at an awesome venue up in Hudson, NY called “The Hill.”  It’s an old colonial barn on a Livingston Estate owned by a wonderful couple based in NYC.  They only allow a handful of weddings each year, which makes the venue all the more special.

I’m loving the idea of using a gray and white palette with pops of red, and mixing patterns.  Swiss dot gray tablecloth, with hobmail milk glass, stripy red napkins, dipped flatware, and an assortment of textured painted and mercury glass votives.  Oh yes, and the flowers!  Mixing ranunulus and amenones in shades of red, cream, green and all things in between sounds like perfection.  Not to mention these amazing watercolor invitations from Happy Menocal.  Let’s do this!

Mini Marquee Sign

Happiest Friday!

Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day is my crafting goddess hero.  I am constantly amazed at how she churns out new and creative projects on a daily basis.  How does she do it?!

I was sorting through some bookmarked pages, and came across this mini marquee sign tutorial.  I love it, and although I’m not confident I could pull this one off, it it completely adorable and deserves an attempt.  The link to the DIY tutorial on Oh Happy Day is here.

DIY Hairstyles on Once Wed

I am a bit of a wedding blog obsessive.  And let me tell you that wedding blogs have come a long way since Style Me Pretty and Snippet & Ink were the only blogs around showing real weddings.  There are now wedding blogs for weddings of all shapes, sizes, and tastes and many are now focused on DIY details, demystifying the wedding planning process and giving crafty brides and grooms to be some tricks of the trade.

Once Wed has an awesome feature right now focused on DIY hairstyles.  I’m not sure this is something I could have attempted on my wedding day, but I know plenty of ladies that are very adept at doing their own coifs and could make this happen quite easily.  I’m especially in love with this DIY Fishtail bun look.  Check out the full tutorial on Once Wed here!
